![]() Ingredients with higher ratings, like coconut oil, will likely clog my pores because they are not occlusive in the same way. But the reason they clog my pores (or anyone’s) is that they are occlusive. My rough assessment of those products is that they are not inherently pore-clogging but can be for me if I don’t remove them with cleanser. But then the same goes for products that I know clog my pores, like mineral oil and shea butter, even though they have a low rating. I think of comedogenic as a guide mainly for how to remove products from my face. But once I stopped using it on my face, the breakouts stopped. I would not have guessed that almond oil could clog pores. And for tracking down problematic ingredients when I have no idea what my skin is reacting to.įor instance, the scale helped me figure out that almond oil was the culprit once. It is also a helpful starting point when trying to assess a product I’m unfamiliar with. I think the rating is helpful in so far as it tells me how to cleanse my face when using products with certain ingredients. If you have any suggestions or things to add, please message the mods!
